The Celtic Games are not quizzes. They are interactive renditions of four Irish mythological narratives — Salmon of Knowledge, Mag Tuired, Cessair-to-Milesian wave genealogy, and the Death of Balor. Each one puts you inside the story with enough agency to feel the choice, and enough constraint to respect the myth.

Every surface is ALIVE — the page breathes in φ-derived rhythms, the hover states track your attention, the wrong answers sink past your cursor like nuts into the Boyne. The physics are not decoration. The physics are the teaching.

The Cailleach

The winter goddess of the Gaels. Rules Samhainn to Bealltainn in partnership with Brighde who rules the summer half. Turns to stone at Bealltainn; walks out of the landscape at Samhainn. Two interpretations, three transfer days, one wheel. The year as a handshake between two goddesses.

How It’s Built

Five surfaces. One proportion.

Each of the first four games is a single React functional component, approximately 900-1,400 lines of JSX, useState/useEffect/useRef/useCallback. No external libraries except React itself.

Every timing is a Fibonacci number or a rational multiple of φ = 1.618. The heartbeat on Balor’s page is 42 BPM (wave I), 60 BPM (wave II), 89 BPM (wave III). The Boyne’s current speed is 1618ms per breath cycle. The Morrigán’s ravens cross the sky at intervals of 1.618 seconds.

The source JSX files are available in the theme assets under balors-eye.jsx, mag-tuired.jsx, find-your-tuath.jsx, salmon-of-knowledge.jsx — the same files that the Hydrogen scaffold mounts natively. On Liquid, they run through in-browser Babel with a controlled React-CDN fallback.
