A STUDY OF EVIL
The Adversary
Ha-Satan. The Accuser. The one who asked God for permission to test Job — and received it.
This is not a celebration. This is a study. Know what you’re fighting.
In Hebrew, “Satan” means “the adversary” or “the accuser.” In the Book of Job, he appears in God’s court and asks permission to test a righteous man. God says yes. The adversary is not a rebel in the Hebrew Bible. He is a prosecutor. He is the opposing counsel. He exists because the test requires a tester.
The seven deadly sins were codified by Pope Gregory I in 590 AD. Each sin is a distortion of something good. Lust distorts love. Greed distorts ambition. Pride distorts confidence. The adversary doesn’t invent new things. He bends existing things until they break.
This page is beautiful on purpose. That’s how it works.
I
Pride
Superbia — The root of all sin. The desire to be God.
Pride is not confidence. Confidence says “I can do this.” Pride says “I don’t need anyone else.” Lucifer fell because he looked at his own light and forgot where it came from. Every empire that collapsed started with a leader who stopped listening. The first sin. The last warning.
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn. — Isaiah 14:12
THE MIRROR
Hand Mirror
A matte black hand mirror. The back is smooth — no ornamentation. The glass has a slight convex curve that makes your reflection 1/φ smaller than reality. You look at yourself. You see less than you expected. That’s the antidote.
Matte black · 1/φ convex glass · 144mm Fibonacci · no decoration
$65
II
Greed
Avaritia — The hunger that eating makes worse.
Greed is not wanting more. Wanting more is ambition. Greed is wanting more than you can use. The hoarder who fills rooms with things and can’t walk through them. The founder who raises money he doesn’t need. The pharaoh who builds a tomb bigger than his palace. The sin of accumulation without purpose.
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? — Mark 8:36
THE EMPTY VAULT
Ceramic Box
A small ceramic box with a lock but no key. You can put things in it. You can never take them out without breaking it. The lesson: if you lock something away, you’ve lost it already. Matte black. Empty when it arrives. Keep it empty. That’s the point.
Ceramic · matte black · functioning lock · no key · 89mm Fibonacci
$42
III
Lust
Luxuria — Love bent until it breaks the other person.
Lust is not desire. Desire is the fire that builds families, writes poetry, and drives creation. Lust is desire that consumes the other person as fuel. It takes the most beautiful force in the universe — love — and inverts it. The object of desire becomes an object. The person disappears. The fire remains.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. — Jeremiah 17:9
THE FLAME
Candle — Black
A black soy candle with no scent. Burns for 21 hours (Fibonacci). The flame is real. The scent is absent. Desire with nothing behind it. Light it when you need to remember what fire looks like without warmth.
Black soy · unscented · 21hr Fibonacci burn · matte vessel
$32
IV
Envy
Invidia — Sorrow at another’s good fortune.
Envy doesn’t want what you have. Envy wants you not to have it. It is the only sin that gives no pleasure to the sinner. Greed at least gets the money. Lust at least gets the night. Envy gets nothing. It just aches. The adversary’s favorite tool because it requires no temptation. Just comparison.
Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming, but who can stand before envy? — Proverbs 27:4
THE GREEN GLASS
Drinking Glass
A single glass in deep green. Everything you drink from it looks green. Water looks green. Whisky looks green. Your own reflection in the liquid looks green. It doesn’t change what’s inside. It changes how you see it. That’s envy.
Hand-blown glass · deep green · 8oz · 89mm tall Fibonacci
$38
V
Gluttony
Gula — The consumption that never satisfies.
Gluttony is not eating. Eating is life. Gluttony is eating past the point of need and into the territory of numbness. It is the third plate, the fourth drink, the fifth episode, the endless scroll. The mechanism that converts nourishment into anesthesia. The adversary loves gluttony because it makes the body the jailer of the soul.
Their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. — Philippians 3:19
THE SMALL PLATE
Ceramic Plate
A handmade ceramic plate. 5 inches across — barely larger than a saucer. Matte black. Enough for one serving of one thing. The antidote to excess is a container that won’t hold it. Eat what fits. Nothing more.
Handmade ceramic · 5” · matte black · food-safe glaze
$28
VI
Wrath
Ira — The fire that burns the one who holds it.
Wrath is not anger. Anger is information. It tells you a boundary was crossed. Wrath is anger that has stopped listening to information and started burning everything in reach. The general who salts the fields. The founder who destroys what he built because someone criticized it. The spouse who says the thing that can never be unsaid. The fire doesn’t care what it burns.
Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger. — Ephesians 4:26
THE COLD STONE
Worry Stone
A smooth obsidian worry stone. Cold to the touch. 34mm (Fibonacci). When the wrath rises, hold the stone. It absorbs heat. Your hand cools. The fire subsides. The stone was already cool before you needed it. Grace works the same way.
Obsidian · 34mm Fibonacci · hand-polished · leather pouch
$22
VII
Sloth
Acedia — Not laziness. Despair disguised as indifference.
Sloth is the most misunderstood sin. It is not laziness. The Latin is acedia — spiritual apathy, the refusal to care. The person who says “nothing matters” is not lazy. They are in despair. They have given up on meaning. The adversary’s final weapon is not temptation but exhaustion. When the tester has tested everything and the subject just stops trying. The collapse of the will. The quiet surrender.
I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Because you are lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth. — Revelation 3:15-16
THE ALARM
Bell
A small brass bell. 34mm (Fibonacci). No clapper inside. You have to strike it yourself with the included brass rod. Nothing rings automatically. The alarm against sloth is not louder noise. It is the decision to strike. Nobody rings it for you.
Brass · 34mm Fibonacci · no clapper · brass striker included
$35
THE STUDY
The Temptation — One sin. One product. $22–$65.
The Trial — Choose three. Ash-grey box. $115.
The Accuser — All seven. Black iron box. No label on the outside. You know what’s inside. Limited to 66 per year (the number of the beast minus 600). $333.
Every product in this collection is an antidote, not a trophy. The mirror makes you smaller. The vault has no key. The plate is too small. The bell has no clapper. You are buying the medicine, not the disease.
